Spring 2018
A friend had been collecting those little tags of "wisdom" that come on the Yogi brand teas. She wanted them incorporated into a painting. So I made 4 panels (each is 9"x12") with little doors so you can open each one and read the "wisdom."

For the women's march a friend wanted a poster. . . so I made her a wearable "poster" cape that could later be stretched on a frame...
Fall 2014
This piece was commissioned in December 2013. . . . I've worked on it in bursts during the first half of the year. Then in the last month I have really focused on ONLY this painting and finally finished it in time to escort it by plane up to Detroit. Here are the first few stages of it and some final photos. The basic guidelines I was given were that the client wanted to brighten up their living room. I had also asked them if they wanted any 'messages' in the painting. Their message is: Drawing the Circle Wider. I loved that message so much that it is written all over this painting. and collaged on it as well. here it is: Drawing the Circle Wider, 36" x 72", mixed media on canvas:

May 2013
My dad is an architect working in San Francisco. He recently moved to a new office space just north of the panhandle. It was a long, narrow, first floor space with big storefront display windows looking out onto the sidewalk. The ceiling was high and the walls where a fabulous, bright white. He wanted something to brighten up the place and he wanted the piece to incorporate the values of one of his favorite architects, J.B. Jackson. So we decided on 9" x 12" canvas boards that would have one letter per board:
He put the boards up on the picture hanging rail that runs the length of his office on both sides. Its hard to get a good picture of the entire piece installed, but you get the idea:
And here is a quick video too:

This piece was commissioned by a friend who climbed to Everest Base Camp. She gave me this photo to use for inspiration:
She also gave me a packet of prayer flags that she picked up on her trip and asked me to incorporate those into the painting. . . She knew the 'type' of painting I do (meaning: she knows I don't paint realistic things) and simply let me take it from there. This is the result:
way to everest, 24" x 24" x 2" mixed media on canvas
